Airport
After touching down in Shanghai you may require transportation into the city if you haven't had it already arranged. Therefore, you will have 3 main choices:
Maglev: The Shanghai Maglev was completed in 2005 and is the world's fastest. Unfortuneately, because of the desire to make it the fastest, they didn't have enough money to bring it all the way into the city. It stops at Longyang station which is still a fair distance from the city centre. It departs every half hour or so and arrives within minutes travelling at 430km/hr. From there, you will have the choice to take a taxi, the subway, a bus or walk to your final destination. (100RMB 1 way without proof of ticket purchase; 50RMB with proof).
Taxi: Taxi's at the airport tend to be a bit dodgy. If taking a taxi in or out to the airport, always use the meter. Taxi drivers outside the airport are always trying to rip off new comers by bargaining at the exits. You will never come out on top of this deal. From/to the airport to/from the city centre should cost you approx 130 to 170RMB (USD 15 - 20).
Airport Shuttle Bus: If you'd rather just have someone drive you right up to the front doors, you likely can with one of these shuttle buses servicing most of the major Shanghai hotels;
